On Oct 27, 2025 CARE (via Northwood Animal Hospital) received a transfer of an injured kitten from Northampton Animal Hospital. Toothless was a 4 month old (est DOB 6-20-25) DSH black kitten. She had sustained serious injuries to her face and right rear leg. Her left ear was badly damaged as well.   It is unknown what happened-her owners found her hiding in the laundry room with a swollen face, unable to use her right rear leg.

She initially presented to Northampton Animal Hospital where she was assessed, radiographs taken and determined she had a fracture through the distal growth plate of the right rear leg. The end of the femur bone had slipped off the rest of the bone.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could ask Toothless what happened to cause her injuries?  She was supposedly in the home when this happened.  Her wounds would be consistent with a kitten that had been hit by a car!

The owners relinquished her to Northampton and she was transferred to Northwood Animal Hospital to be placed in CARE so she could get the surgery she needed.

She had the initial surgery to repair the fractured leg (cross pinned the bones back together) on Oct 30th.  Surgery went well-she is using the leg well now.

She had to have a follow up surgery Dec 2nd to be spayed.  At that same time, she had surgery to remove some necrotic maxillary bone (upper jaw) and extract the right upper canine.  She also had a partial amputation of her left ear flap, with reshaping to try and make the ear look more natural.

Toothless has healed from her injuries, has completed her initial kitten vaccines, is spayed, microchipped and ready for a forever home.
