When Smoke found CARE in April, he was suffering from life-threatening flea anemia and whip worm infection. Smoke was critically anemic with a PCV of 5 (normal is 30-45). He was immediately treated for fleas, received a life-saving blood transfusion, and started on deworming. Two days later, he was more active and eating on his own. His PCV stablalized and we started him on vaccines, neutered and extracted 12 retained baby teeth. You can visit Smoke at Northwood Animal Hospital during regular business hours.
