On Feb 2, 2026 a black and tan male Frenchie mix puppy was brought to Northwood Animal Hospital on emergency. He had been found as a stray wondering in Lanier County GA. He had a severe rectal prolapse, with a large section of the distal rectum protruding from his anus.
The person that found him could not manage his care so he was relinquished.
Emergency surgery occurred that night. The rectum was finally reduced back inside his body and he was started on medications to manage the diarrhea that likely caused the prolapse in the first place (straining from diarrhea will do that).
We named the puppy Scoop. He was given an estimated date of birth of Oct. 4, 2025.
Scoop had a pretty persistent hookworm infection-it took some time to get that under control.
He developed patchy hair loss soon after his arrival that was diagnosed as Demodetic manage.
Scoop’s rectum has stayed in place after removal of the sutures (purse string) to hold it in place while everything was healing. Scoop has received his puppy vaccines, has been neutered and microchipped.
Scoop is not crate trained (and likely not house trained) yet-he still has issues with pooping in his kennel.
If you are up for house training a puppy that will love you as you do it, Scoop is the puppy for you. Despite what he has been through, he is always such a happy guy-so glad to see anyone and everyone. He gets along well with other dogs as well.
