On August 7th an injured kitten, male orange tabby, est. DOB 4-7-20, was brought in on emergency. He had been abandoned by the neighbors so these people took him in. The new owners came home to find that their dog had attacked the kitten and rushed him in to Northwood on emergency. He was having trouble breathing and was put into oxygen immediately. The owner did not think the kitten would be safe at their home so they relinquished to Northwood. We named Quill. The kitten had SQ emphysema indicating air trapped under his skin. There were no puncture wounds found so likely was leaking from his lungs. Xrays showed some pleural effusion (free fluid/blood in the space around the lungs). Quill was treated aggressively for the thoracic trauma. He is doing well now. He has been vaccinated, neutered and is ready to go to a forever home.
