On July 28th a rescue in Quincy, Rest Your Paws, reached out to CARE via our website.  They had a litter of 3 kittens that had been found at the Winn Dixie, all with serious medical issues. We agreed to take them into CARE.  They were dropped off July 31. The male black and white DSH (we named Timmy) had a necrotic tail that needed to be amputated. He also had severe diarrhea and mild anemia.  The other 2 kittens were much smaller than Timmy but were found with him so we are assuming they are littermates. Pika is a male Siamese mix manx (no tail at all) with a mild rectal prolapse.  He also had diarrhea and anemia issues. Miku is similar in size to Pika. He is a DSH white with brown tabby patches, also a no tail manx, also with diarrhea and mild anemia. Timmy had his tail amputated and was neutered August 5th. He had post-operative hemorrhage from the tail amputation. The skin at the end of his tail (the amputation site) died and his incision dehisced.  A revision surgery was performed to amputate the tail a bit higher up. That surgery was successful. Pika and Miku had their rectal prolapses treated surgical at the time of their neuters. We gave these boys an est DOB 4-2-19. They were quite big for their ages (especially Timmy) but they didn’t have all their adult teeth yet so we aren’t far off on estimating their age. All 3 kittens have completed their kitten vaccines and have been microchipped.
