On June 7, 2023 a stray kitten was brought to Northwood on emergency. He was found in Jefferson County, at Big Bend Tire (Alabama St and Georgia Ave). His right eye looked very bad, with a deep corneal ulcer and likely perforated eye. He was also infested with fleas and had nasal discharge. Likely a severe upper respiratory infection was the cause of his eye and nasal issues. He is a brown and white DSH male, est DOB 4-26-23. We named him Mad Eye Moody. Medical treatment was instituted in an attempt to save the eye, but the eye was nonvisual and there was concern it would cause him chronic pain so decision was made to remove (enucleate) the eye. He has that surgery (and was neutered at the same time) August 15th. Mad Eye Moody has healed well. He is negative for FeLV and FIV, has completed his kitten vaccines and is ready for a forever home. He is such a happy boy!
