On October 31 a kitten estimated to be 9 months old was brought to Southwood Animal Hospital. She had 8 inches of twine hanging out of her rectum. Her owner brought her in for treatment. Harley (DSH, Tortishell) was sedated in hopes of removing the twine without invasive surgery, but that was not successful. Harley needed emergency surgery, as radiographs of her abdomen showed that the entire
length of her intestines were plicated/twisted onto the remaining twine. Her owner relinquished her to Southwood for care. At surgery, twine was found extending from her stomach to her rectum. All told, 3.1 feet of twine was removed from this 9 lb kitten. Harley has recovered well from surgery. She was declawed and spayed by her previous owner’s vet. Harley has healed and is available for adoption at Southwood Animal Hospital.
