Duck presented on emergency to Northwood Animal Hospital March 20, 2022.  He was estimated to be about 8 week old (est DOB 1-20-22), maybe a Chihuahua mix.  His owner had found him as a stray 2 weeks prior so nothing was known about his parentage.  The puppy was critically ill, profoundly lethargic, hypothermic, neurologic and vomiting. The puppy was underweight as well.  Initially the owner did not know what could have caused him to suddenly become so ill.  However, the puppy vomited and there was a sweet/fruity smell to the vomit.  When questioned, the owner then recalled that a glass of pineapple vodka was left on the floor where the puppy could have drank from it. The owner elected to relinquish him to the hospital for care. He suffered from severe alcohol toxicity, profoundly neurologic and seizures.  Duck responded well to treatment, soon becoming a happy little puppy.  He has completed his puppy vaccine series, has been neutered and microchipped  and is ready for a home. Keep the alcohol out of reach for him, though.
