On April 5, 2019 a kitten estimated to be about 6 months old. (est DOB 10-5-18) was brought to Northwood on emergency by her owner. She is a black and white female DSH named Bella. She had been attacked by a dog, found with her head inside the dog’s mouth.
She arrived covered in dog saliva, shocky, recumbant and in respiratory distress. There was blood on both front paws-maybe her blood, maybe the dog’s. The owners surrendered her for care. X-rays showed bruising/bleeding into her lungs but no fractures. Bella was
started on aggressive oxygen therapy and emergency medications. The next day she was better, but when she tried to walk she could not use her right front leg. No fractures were found so it seemed possible this was nerve damage to that leg. She is using that front leg
better every day but she is not 100% sound on it and she may never be. But as long as she has some use and it is not painful for her that is fine. Bella is FeLV/FIV negative, is progressing through her kitten vaccines, is spayed and microchip and is ready for adoption.
