Bam joined CARE in early August for treatment of his rectal prolapse. He had 2 temporary surgeries to place “purse strings” around his anus to try and keep the protruding tissues in. Unfortunately, the prolapsed recurred, though not as severe as it was on presentation. Bam persistently had inflamed anal tissue protruding from his anus. The decision was made to attempt a more invasive approach to try and correct the problem with his anus. On Sept. 19th he had a colopexy performed, involving going into his abdomen and pulling his colon back to invert the protruding tissue back into place. Sutures were place to prevent recurrence. He is doing great after his last surgery! He is able to defecate normally and no longer has a rectal prolapse. Looking at him today, you would never know that he ever needed surgery! Bam has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, is neutered, microchipped and completed his kitten vaccines. He is all ready for his forever home!
