Baldrick is a young adult male neutered brown and white tabby cat. He was originally seen on emergency at Northwood 1-6-14 for urethral obstruction, causing him to be unable to urinate. This is a very serious condition and can quickly become life-threatening. Baldrick was anesthetized, the obstruction relieved, and indwelling urinary catheter placed. After 2 days of IV fluids, flushing and medications, he was released to the care of his owner who was instructed to feed Baldrick a special urinary tract diet to prevent future issues with crystaluria. Baldrick presented again on emergency 2-4-14, obstructed again (due to an inappropriate diet). Due to the requirement for ongoing management, the owner decided to sign Baldrick over to CARE. He was treated in the same manner as before, and did well. Assuming he is kept on special urinary tract diet for life, he can have a normal healthy life. If he obstructs again, he will likely need a more permanent surgery (penile urethrostomy) to prevent him from obstructing again. Baldrick is current on vaccines and ready for someone who will love him and provide him the care he needs to keep him healthy. Baldrick was adopted and went home June 25, 2014. On October 1, 2014 Baldrick was returned to CARE, through no fault of his own. His owner had lost his job and could no longer keep Baldrick. Therefore, he is available for adoption again. This sweet cat has had more than his share of bumps in the road; if you can give him a loving, forever home please contact us today!
