Gardenia 1 Gardenia 2 Gardenia 3

Gardenia joined CARE on December 16, 2016.  A good samaritan found her being attacked by two dogs. Once the Good Sam got the kitten away from the dogs, she noted the right front leg was just dangling.  The examining doctor felt crepitus (crackling) in the carpus (wrist) but x-rays did not show fractures. Gardenia also had air under the skin along her chest, likely also due to trauma from the dog attack. She was treated with pain control and antibiotics.  She gradually improved and became more friendly.  Now she is such a cuddlebug now that she throws herself at you, insistent on riding on your shoulder. Unfortunately, Gardenia did not regained full use of her right front leg, likely due to severe nerve damage in the attack.  Therefore, our friends at Northwood Animal Hospital preformed an amputation on her right front leg so she would have a good quality of life long term. Gardenia has recovered well from her surgery and is bouncing around the clinic just fine on three legs.  She is even more playful now than she was prior to surgery! This sweet kitten is spayed, microchipped, progressing through her kitten vaccines, and ready to go home with you! Come visit her today!
